The Schehl Family Reunion

Our July visit to Chicago coincided with the Schehl family reunion, which only occurs once every ten years.  The last family reunion was in 2000, but as I was living in Senegal at that time I was unable to attend.  So this July I saw family members that I have not seen since 1990.  Imagine that.  In 1990 I was only fourteen years old.  Now I'm married and have a son.  No wonder no one knew who I was!

My grandmother and my neice Laura.  I was shocked to discover that these two had never met.

Maya, Kelsey, and Emma are my cousins children.  The twins and Joseph had the same due date - February 17th.  Being twins, the girls were born about six weeks early.  Joseph was born eleven days early.  Maya, whose due date was closer to the end of February, was actually born on February 17th.  The lesson learned here is that for some cosmic reason, the Schehl family was destine to have a child born on February 17th.
